I also posted a dessert on the instagram of the Foodstand today for showing a way on how to use old/dried out croissants. I literally came into the peculiar situation once of having a guest over and not having any time to whip up a nice cake for the coffee and the tea. In this case, this super quick and easy dessert/ cake is sooo good. Check out a picture of the deliciousness below:
For this recipe for 2-3 persons you need:
- 2 croissants
- 1 pot/ 250 grams of tiramisu cream
- 200 grams of strawberry compote/ mashed strawberries
- 1 table spoon of water
- 2 table spoons of sugar/ agave syrup (the healthier version)
- 3 teaspoons of water
Put the 2 croissant in a baking form, sprinkle the 3 table spoons of water on each croissant. The sprinkles of water will moisture the slightly dried out croissants wants again before going into the oven. Cut them/rip them into smaller pieces and spread the pieces evenly on the baking form. Now bake them in the oven at 160° Celcius for about 10 minutes.
In the mean time, either use ready made strawberry compote or make your own easy version of it by smashing the strawberries in a bowl with the 1 table spoon of water and the 2 table spoons of sugar. While smashing keep some strawberry chunks in the mixture.
Once the croissants are readily baked after 10 minutes, take them out of the oven and let them cool down for a while. Then, add the tiramisu cream in all of the gaps in between of the croissant pieces until all gaps are covered. On top, add the strawberry compote/ mashed strawerries on the tiramisu cream.
You can either directly serve this dessert or let is cool down in the fridge.
Enjoy and CARPE DELI! 🙂
